A setting for new questions
Recovery after surgery is a different clinical context from a brief blood draw. We are exploring how appropriate immersive experiences might offer engagement during difficult recovery moments. This is a research interest, not a proven postoperative treatment.
Care remains primary
Any proposed use must respect clinical observation, prescribed pain management, positioning, recovery needs and the child’s willingness to participate. VR must not delay assessment of pain or other symptoms.
The evidence boundary
Our randomized comparison relates to venipuncture. It does not establish equivalent effectiveness, duration of benefit or suitability after surgery. A procedure-specific evaluation and local clinical review would be required.
